The Stoke Foil Boost foil assist is one of a number of foil assist products I’ve tested over the last few years but the Stoke Boost is the most attention-grabbing. Looking radically different from anything else on the market the Stoke Boost looks more like a torpedo than a gadget to help get you flying.

First look.
Coming in a svelte carry case the Stoke Foil Boost is extremely quick and intuitive to piece together. The battery screws into the front before a few bolt twists have it attached to your foil mast.
Ingeniously the receiver nodule slots into your foil track turning the board into a receiver. This means zero loss of Bluetooth signal even if submerged. A nifty design trait.
Great design and performance.
Once charged it is simply a case of switching on and the handset controller pairs straight away. The throttle is an ergonomic, easy to use controller, with all that necessary telemetry displayed. Three power settings give plenty of scope for riders of different weights and differing conditions.
There’s plenty of power with the Stoke Boost. During testing, there was never a need to go full power. Finally, the folding propeller helps minimise drag.
Stoke Foil Boost efficieny.
The Stoke Boost foil assist is a lovely piece of design engineering and so easy to plug and play. If there’s a downside – and it’s really something minor – it’s that the Stoke Boost is heavy. Therefore, it adds a degree of weight to your setup. But then the power of the Stoke overcomes this once in use.
Efficiently mounting the throttle to a wing boom, handle or SUP paddle it’s then a quick thumb of the throttle to engage the vroom. Keeping the trigger down riders then zoom forwards onto their chosen swell. With a few additional paddle strokes, you’re up on foil quickly.
And should a rider drop back down then give the Stoke some more juice and you’re away again. For unbroken swell SUP foiling or downwinding this is an even earlier way to take off. It’s also bang on for light wind wing foiling – beginners and advanced riders – and other foil sports thereby widening the range of conditions you can get out in even further.
Conclusion
The Stoke Boost foil assist fits so many different foiling scenarios. For wing foilers beginners and advanced riders alike, the Stoke is a winner. Beginners can use it to learn the art of foiling whilst seasoned riders can use it for maximising ride times with more high performance foils in even slacker waves or downwind-orientated bumps. Versatility-wise wise the Stoke Foil Boost straddles all foiling disciplines with ability to fly earlier and for longer regardless of skill and your environment. Great engineering, a unique look and tip top performance will make the Stoke Boost foil assist an awesome bit of kit.
